Session #2 Elements of Quality Instructional Planning

Description: The key to effective instruction is planning. The lesson plan defines the instructors' course of action to help learners attain the objectives or desired results. It is a tool that helps learners understand what they will learn and helps instructors organize the lesson to ensure the smooth flow of information and scaffolding of instruction.

In this workshop, participants will learn about three important elements of the lesson planning process: 1) selection of standards-based content/topics, 2) the ABCs of writing specific, measurable and observable objectives, and 3) defining acceptable evidence of students' knowledge and skills. Participants will also learn about the Warm-up, Introduction, Presentation, Practice, Evaluation, Application (WIPPEA) model of lesson planning and will be able to utilize it to create drafts of their own lesson plans.

Audience: New Program Managers, Aspiring Leaders

Facilitator: Be Jensen

Note: this event will take place at 445 5th Ave, entrance on 39th Street, in the Training Room on C Level
